Occlusion: Dr. Deegan is an expert in analyzing occlusion. The body requires balance between the neuro-muscular, skeletal and dental systems: this study is know as Neuro-muscular dentistry. Misalignment of teeth can cause havoc: excessive wear, affect gums and bone stability, loose teeth, TMJ dysfunction, headaches and cramped muscles throughout you face, neck and shoulders. Occlusal Analysis and Equilibration, can correct some of these problems that occur. Equilibration is the careful selective grinding of teeth by the dentist to synchronize the bite with the ideal jaw position. Sometimes the use of orthodics (removable bite guards), orthodontics (moving the position of teeth) and/or comprehensive restorative dentistry (crowns or onlays) are needed for long term stabilization of the bite.
Digital radiography and 3D CAT scan are used to see otherwise undetectable pathology, such as fractured roots and endodontic (root canal) problems. This technology is also very useful in the proper planning of implant restorations. We can see the details of the underlying bone, nerves, and sinuses, all factors in proper surgical implant placement by our highly skilled Dr. Reff.
